Cusco, the Sacred Valley, Machupicchu, the Amazon jungle, Ica and Nazca

Our adventure starts in the highlands of Peru visiting Cusco, the capital of the Inca civilization to get involved in the inca history, then we will make our way towards the magical lost city of Machu Picchu. In our activities, there will be time  for a 4x4 ATV fun and also include the train journey through the last portion of the Sacred Valley of the Incas to enter in the raincloud forest. From Cusco we head to the Tambopata jungle lodge with excursions that take us deep into the Amazonian jungle; a place that holds more than 15,000 species of flowering plants and an incredible variety of endemic fauna.Then we will have a  change in the climate conditon heading to the dry and arid coastal line with some hard to beat dune-buggy and sand-boarding fun. We will take a flight over the amazing Nazca lines before heading back to the vibrant city of Lima.

  2. Morning Cusco city tour. Afternoon ATV offroad tour on quadbikes.
  3. Day excursion to the Sacred Valley, visiting the indigenous and handicraft market in Pisac and Ollantaytambo and its archaeological site.
  4. Train to Machu Picchu and a three hour guided tour of Machu Picchu.
  5. Free day at Machu Picchu to climb Huayna Picchu and visit the Inca bridge and other places of interest. Evening return to Cusco.
  6. Fly to Puerto Maldonado, First day at the Amazon jungle, guided nature walk and twilight river excursion.
  7. Second day at the Amazon jungle, excursion to Sandoval lake and canopy walk.
  8. Last day at the Amazon jungle, return by motorized canoe and visit to the butterfly farm. Fly to Lima.
  9. Bus to Ica, free time to relax. Afternoon dunebuggy ride & Sandboarding.
  10. Bus to Nazca, visit Chauchilla cemetery,the aqueducts of Kantalloc and a ceramic atelier. Optional flight over the Nazca Lines, evening bus to Lima.
  11. Morning City tour of the colonial and modern Lima. Afternoon free. Evening transfer to airport.

Day 1 Lima to Cusco - Cusco walking tour.

This morning  you will be transferred to the airport to take your flight to Cusco. On your arrival to Cusco our Chaska Tours representative will meet you at the airport to take your to your hotel. After your check in, you will have a briefing about your upcoming activities, then  you will have the rest of the morning free to relax and acclimatize. In the afternoon you will meet with your guide  in your hotel for a private walking tour of Cusco.

You will head to the local market of San Pedro, a place where you can get an insider's acces to the lifestyle of the local people. Then you will visit the artisans neighborhood of San Blas, a place that houses a lot of the history of the popular art in Cusco, there you will find the workshops of the most renowned artisans of Cusco, and you will also visit the church of San Blas where you can appreciate its magnificent pulpit, finely sculpted and decorated.

Day 2 Cusco City tour and archeological sites. Afternoon ATV 4x4 offroad Tour

In the morning your guide will come to pick you up from your hotel for your city tour, including two archeological sites. We visit the impressive Qoricancha temple and then take a short walk through the typical streets of Cusco visiting the Cathedral in the main square and then to see the famous 12 angle Inca stone. From this point our car will take us to the megalithic site of Sacsayhuaman and then to Qenko . After your tour you will return to your hotel or if you prefer we can take you to a restaurant in the center for lunch. 
In the afternoon at 2:00 p.m. pick-up from your hotel or restaurant to head out to our base located in the upper part of the outskirts of Cusco where we begin our tour with some training in the use of the ATV and then drive to our circuit including the Mirador of Corao and breathtaking views of the city of Cusco, travel on ramps and off-road tracks.Our ATV service includes:

Day 3 Sacred Valley

Today we pick you up from your hotel for our day excursion to the Sacred Valley of the Incas. We visit the colorful indigenous and handicraft market of Pisac and in the afternoon the archeological site of Ollantaytambo. At Pisac we can enjoy a small typical Andean market and a handicraft section that offers good opportunities to buy local handicraft. We continue to Urubamba where a buffet lunch is served. After lunch we continue to Ollantaytambo where we visit the Archaeological site. Ollantaytambo is an attractive little town located at the western end of the Sacred Valley. The town has been built on top of original Inca foundations and is the best surviving example of Inca town planning. The town is located at the bottom of spectacular Inca ruins, which protected the strategic entrance to the lower Urubamba Valley. The temple area is at the top of steep terracing which helped to provide excellent defenses. At the end of our tour we check-in to our hotel in the Sacred Valley.

Day 4 Machu Picchu

Morning transfer to the train station to board the train for the scenic journey to Aguas Calientes town. On your arrival to Aguas Calientes, the hotel staff will be waiting for you to take you to your hotel.  Your guide will be waiting at your hotel and after dropping off your luggage, with your guide you will take the bus up to Machupicchu Sanctuary where you will enjoy a three hour private guided tour of the sanctuary. After your tour you have free time to explore the place on your own. The rest of the day is free.

Day 5 Free day at Machu Picchu


Today you have free time to return on your own to Machupicchu Sanctuary and explore the site (Round trip bus tickets and entrance into the Sanctuary plus entry for Huayna Picchu is not included) or you can choose to visit the waterfalls at Mandor or take the adrenaline climbing the Putucusi mountain.
If you have chosen the Inkaterra Machu Picchu Pueblo hotel you can opt to do one of the various included excursions on the hotel grounds such as bird-watching, orchid and nature hikes with specialist guides.
Please make sure you check out of you hotel before you leave for the Sanctuary and that you pick up your luggage to be at the train station half an hour before your train’s departure. Please disembark the train in Poroy or Ollantaytambo station were our representative awaits to transfer you to your hotel in Cusco.

Day 6 Amazon Rainforest - Inkaterra

Today we head to the Amazon jungle, we will transfer you to Cusco airport for your flight to Puerto Maldonado.
We will be waiting for your arrival in Puerto Maldonado to start your Amazon jungle tour. We go by boat to the jungle lodge and on arrival you will have free time to settle in. Your lunch is then served in the main dining room and in he afternoon you will enjoy a guided walk along a special nature trail. In the evening you will have a twilight river excursion followed by cocktails and dinner on the lovely lodge grounds.

Please notice that the itineraries may vary according to the selected lodge and availability.


For the Amazon Tour there are previous considerations:

-It is advised for children upon 5 years old.

- Most lodges will provide you rainboots for excursions.

- Vaccination are not mandatory but are highly recommended, you can take vaccination against Yellow Fever before your trip.

- If you take any medication, please be sure to take them as the Amazon Lodge is located far away from the City

Day 7 Amazon Rainforest – Sandoval Lake

This morning you can stay in bed or get up early for some explorations - breakfast begins at 5:30 a.m. to avoid the heat and enjoy nature at its fullest. You will then start the excursion to Sandoval lake in the Tambopata National Reserve. Return to your lodge for lunch. After lunch we take the Canopy Walk and you have the option to extend your excursion so as to appreciate the sunset from one of the high canopy towers. From this point, return to the Amazon Lodge. Cocktails are served in the main dining room or during the evening nature presentation in the Eco-Media Center. Dinner starts at 7:30 p.m.

Day 8 Amazon Rainforest to Lima

After breakfast we say goodbye to the lodge (extra days can be added subject to availability) to return to Puerto Maldonado, visiting the Butterfly farm on the way to the airport. We fly from Puerto Maldonado to Lima and on our arrival a staff member will be waiting to take you to your hotel in Lima. The rest of the afternoon is free to explore the city.

Day 9: Lima to Ica - Dunebuggy ride & Sandboarding

Early morning transfer to bus station to have a bus ride to ICA. The bus departs at 7.30 am taking you along the coastal road to Ica, arrving at noon approximately. On your arrival to Ica we will take you to your hotel where you will have free time. You will have tome to take lunch and relax by the hotel pool. At 4 pm we pick up from your hotel and take you for your dune buggy and Sandboarding excursion. This tour is a fabulous experience and is growing in popularity. After the tour we return to the hotel with the evening to relax and explore your hotel neighborhood and the Oasis of Huacachina.

Day 10: Ica to Nazca lines & Chauchilla

At 8:00am we will pick you up from your hotel for the cruiser-bus to Nazca. The journey will take about 2.5 hours crossing the desert plains to Nazca. Here we start our private excursion to Nazca where we will visit the Chauchilla cemetery, the Maria Reiche museum, the amazing aqueducts of Kantalloc and then to the ceramic and gold processing ateliers.
After the tour you will have the chance to take a flight over the Nazca lines.

After the tour, It will be time to take the cruise-bus back to Lima. We will take you to the bus station for your bus from Nazca to Lima. Upon your arrival to the bus station at 11:00 pm we will transfer you to your hotel.

Day 11 Colonial and modern Lima

Morning (8.45 am) or afternoon (13.45pm) pick up at your hotel for your Lima city tour. The tour offers the best combination of the different attractions in Lima and its three historical periods: pre-hispanic, colonial and contemporary.

Evening transfer to Lima airport for your international flight.
Option: hotel for day-use, normal check out is usually at 13:00 pm, luggage can be left at hotel storage.

    Hotel Encantada is far from the noisy streets, but still located in the centre and close to the Sacsayhuaman ruins. The Encantada Boutique Hotel is a marvellous place located in the higher part of Cusco's city centre.

    All 15 rooms are divided among three floors in this modern styled hotel; on the upper floor there is a rooftop terracce and a spa. From both places you'll have an excellent view over the city, the surrounding mountains and the rooftops of San Blas while listening to the sound of the birds in the trees close by.     Hotel Andenes al Cielo is the perfect combination of a guesthouse and a modern hotel. It has all the facilities and services of a modern hotel, but offers you the personal service of a small guesthouse. 

    Andenes al Cielo is located on Choquecheka Street, at the beginning of the San Blas district,  The hotel offers its guests many advantages. Only two blocks from the main square, the hotel is close to restaurants, bars, pubs and shops in the San Blas area.

    Pakaritampu Sacred Valley

    Hotel Pakaritampu´s impressive gardens and professional staff, this hotel offers you everything you need during your stay in the Sacred Valley of the Incas'.

    The hotel has a total of 37 rooms, which are divided among 4 blocks. The newest block was finished last year and only has superior rooms. In between all the separate blocks you will find beautiful gardens with fruit trees, colourful flowers and, when lucky, even some hummingbirds.

    In the garden, the hotel also has a telescope which you can use to have a closer look at the ruins; these are also visible from here.

    The restaurant inside offers a great variety of meals and some days they offer a buffet lunch as well. It opens at 5:00 AM in the morning and closes at 9:30 PM. Room-service, luggage storage, internet on site, TV room, library, and a bar with fire place or some of the features this hotel has to offer for which you'll not be bored while staying at Hotel Pakaritampu.

    Hotel Huacachinero is a pleasant hotel at only steps away from the Huacachina oasis. Is has an attractive swimming pool which is the favorite place of most guests and is a great place to relax.

    The dunebuggy ride and sandboarding are activities you should definitley do if you ar into some adrenaline enhanced experience.

    For a contemporary tour we recommend an excursion to the nearby bodega´s and wineries.  Ica is the major winemaking region of Peru.

    Hotel Mossone, a colonial inspired construction is located right at the Hucachina Lagoon, the oasis in the middle of the desert near the town of Ica.

    Mossone is a charming hotel with character and has a large courtyard. All rooms have private bathrooms. Rooms are not luxurious but provide all the neccessary amenities, satelite TV, airconditiong and safe.
