Overview

This tour offers you a great opportunity to have an insider's view of some of the Islands of Titicaca Lake where you will visit communities that have successfully welcomed tourism in a way that it complements and preserves their lifestyle and traditions. Our adventure will start right in the heart of the inca civilization, the city of Cusco, home to a unique blend of precision Inca stonework with charming colonial churches and neighbornoods. We will visit the impressive ruins surrounding Cusco and throughout the Sacred Valley. We will take the vistadome train to reach the lost citadel of Machu Picchu, on the second day of visit, We  will have an early wake up to catch the first rays of light  over the citadel. After visiting Cusco, the Sacred Valley and Machupicchu we head to the beautiful Titicaca Lake with a choice of overland tour bus or a luxury train. We will reach the floating island of Uros where the community will welcome us. The floating islands are inhabited by traditional fishermen, then we will continue to Taquile where the local people are experts in traditional weaving techniques.

Day 1 Arrival in Lima

On your arrival in Lima, our representative will be waiting for you at the airport to transfer you to your hotel. For customers arriving in the late evening we offer the option to use the four star Costa del Sol Hotel which is direclty connected to the airport. If you opt for the airport hotel make your own way over to the Costa del Sol hotel and check in. You will find that the hotel is just a short walk from the airport arrival lounge. Please pick up your Chaska Tours holiday hotel vouchers at the reception desk of the Hotel.

Day 2 Fly to Cusco - Cusco walking tour

In the morning you will return to the airport for your flight to Cusco. On your arrival in Cusco our representative will be waiting to take you to your hotel. You are going to check in and have the morning free to relax and start adjusting to the altitude. In the afternoon your guide will come to pick you up from your hotel for your guided city tour, including two archaeological sites.

First, we will visit the impressive Qoricancha temple and then take a short walk through the typical streets of Cusco visiting the Cathedral in the main square and continuing to see the famous 12 angle Inca stone. From this point our car will take us to the megalithic site of Sacsayhuaman, it is said this place was a religious temple dedicated to worship some divinities like the lightning, the rain and the thunder, we will continue then to Qenko,a quechua voice that means Labirinth, it is said that this place was used for some ceremonies dedicated to the land fertility. After this visits we will go back to your hotel.

Day 3 Sacred Valley

This morning we leave from Cusco heading up and over the highlands towards the Sacred Valley of the Incas. We arrive to Pisac, a town located on the border of the Urubamba river to visit its colourful handicraft market. Here you can bargain for some of the many artisans goodies on offer. After visiting the market, we head up to Pisac ruins located high up overlooking the valley. After an hour exploring this magnificent site we return to the town to continue by car to Urubamba city. Here we will take a buffet lunch before continuing to Ollantaytambo town for our tour of the archaeological site.
The archaeological site is located on top of the mountain overlooking the town. Ollantaytambo is the gateway to Machu Picchu. If you have chosen a private service tour then you will board an afternoon train to Aguas Calientes. If you are with shared group then, due to slower travel times, you will board the later, evening train or you can opt for the Inca Rail train departing at 4:40 pm at an additonal cost.
On your arrival, our representative will help you to get to your hotel. Our guide will visit you at your hotel to brief you about the next day activities.
You have the evening free to stroll in the town.

Day 4 Machu Picchu

We start early this morning, after breakfast, with our guide we take the bus up to the citadel of Machu Picchu on time to catch the first rays of light over the citadel. Our guide will slowly show you around the main areas, recounting myths and legends passed down over the centuries and explaining about some of the advanced building techniques the Incas used. After your tour you will have plenty of time to look around  or maybe do some of the other treks which are available in the surrounding mountains. After lunch it will be time to take the way back to Aguas Calientes where you will board the afternoon return train to Poroy train station and then a transfer back to Cusco.

Day 5 Journey by train or first class bus from Cusco to Puno

Bus to Puno option
Transfer to the bus station for your First Class bus ride to Puno, en route you will visit four archaeological sites.
Upon arrival to Puno, our representative will meet you and take you to your hotel.
Places you will visit are:

-Andahuaylillas chapel, knon as the "Sistine Chapel of the Americas" because of its fabulous decaoration.
-Raqchi, the temple of the God Wiracocha
.

-La Raya: The highest point between Cusco and Puno, located at 14, 234 feet, where you can enjoy the views of the snow capped mountains.
-Pukara: The litho-sculptures of Pukara, belonging to a civilization of the name Pukara.
Lunch is served at a local restaurant halfway in Sicuani town.

Alternative option: Andean Explorer train to Puno
Travel in style on the Andean Explorer enjoying views of Titicaca lake before arriving to Puno. 
Morning transfer to the local train station of Cusco where you will board the Andean Explorer train for your spectacular rail journey to Puno, which runs on the shores of Titicaca lake. The glass-walled observation coach provides the perfect opportunity to view and enjoy the beautiful scenery. The journey is broken by a scenic stop at La Raya, which is also the highest point on the route.
 First class lunch is served aboard the train in style.
 A music and fashion show and  a bar-tending lesson will also be part of your experience aboard.
On your arrival in Puno we will meet you and  take you to your hotel.

Day 6 Titicaca Lake

Today we will leave for the port where a boat awaits you to visit the highest navigable lake in the world (3800 meters / 12467.19 feet). We will explore the floating island of Uros inhabited by traditional fisherman. We continue the tour to the island of Taquile where the local people are experts in traditional weaving techniques. Return to Puno and transfer to your hotel.

Day 7 Flight Juliaca / Lima and city tour

Morning transfer to Juliaca airport for your flight to Lima. On your arrival to Lima our representative will pick you up from the exit gate and we would recommend you to go straight over to leave your luggage at the airport storage. After leaving your luggage, you will be transferred to the drop off pick up point in Miraflores, in front of the Marriott Hotel. You will have free time for lunch. In the afternoon you will be picked up from the same point, in front of Marriott hotel for your guided Lima city tour in shared service. After tour you will be dropped back to Marriott Hotel were you have free time until your evening scheduled transfer to return to the airport for your international flight.

    Andenes Al Cielo
