Introduction Amazon, Cusco, Machu Picchu and Lake Titicaca

Our journey starts in the Amazon rainforest with a stay at one of our Amazon adventure jungle lodges. Your stay includes a variety of water and land based adventures introducing you to the huge variety of fauna and flora found at the Tambopata reserve. From the jungle we head up to the Andes. Once the heart of the great Inca civilization, Cusco has a fascinating and unique fusion of colonial and Inca architecture. We travel through the Sacred Valley, ringed by snowcapped peaks and studded with Inca temples and incredible constructions, we will continue towards the lost city of Machu Picchu which was hidden from the world for centuries. Finally you will head south to the Titicaca lake, with its remote islands, living culture and fascinating archaeological remains.

On your arrival in Lima, our representative will be waiting for you at the airport to transfer you to your hotel. For customers arriving in the late evening we offer the option of the four-star Airport Hotel which is directly connected to the airport by a footbridge. If you opt for the airport hotel make your own way over to the Airport Hotel and check in. You will find that the hotel is just a short walk from the airport arrival lounge. Overnight in Lima
No meals

This day we will start our adventure in the Amazon jungle. We will transfer you to Lima airport for your flight to Puerto Maldonado.
Our representative will be waiting for your arrival in Puerto Maldonado to begin your Amazon tour; first we will check-in at the Butterfly house & lounge. Then we will travel to our lodgings by motorized canoe along the Madre de Dios River (approximately 25-minutes). On our arrival, it will be time to take a buffet lunch, prepared with organic ingredients and native flavours. After lunch we take a nature trail walk where you will discover and learn about primary and secondary rainforest, its components, uses, transformations by the human being, and its relevance for the world. At dusk navigate on a canoe in a twighlight excursion. Boating on the Madre de Dios River, you will learn about its ecosystems, Amazon creeks, nocturnal animals’ behavior and if you like gazing starts, this a great place to observe the southern constellations. Back to the main building for dinner.

After breakfast we have a long trek through firm ground in the Tambopata National Reserve to Sandoval Lake. Here you will understand why Madre de Dios is called the biodiversity capital of the world, we will learn about the reserve’s conservation efforts and the lake’s formation. We will travel across the oxbow lake that is home to the endangered giant river otter, the blue and yellow macaw, the red howler monkey and the black caiman. We head back to the lodge for lunch for the canopy walkway and anaconda walk. We ascend one of the two 98 ft (30 mts) towers and cross the seven hanging bridges that connect the treetops at 90 ft (28m) high. Here we have breathtaking views and we can watch toucans, woodpeckers, squirrel monkeys and the three-toed sloth.  Then we walk along the 200-meter wooden bridge over some swamps and learn about the fauna and flora of these flooded ecosystems. Then we return to the lodge and enjoy a nice dinner.

After breakfast we take a canoe ride back to Puerto Maldonado. Arrive at the Butterfly house & lounge where you can wait for your flight to Cusco. We fly from Puerto Maldonado to Cusco and on arrival our representative will be waiting to take you to your hotel. Free time to relax and acclimatize in Cusco or optional excursions.


Overnight in Cusco

In the morning or the afternoon (whichever you prefer) your guide will pick you up from your hotel for your private guided city tour, including two archaeological sites. We visit the impressive Qoricancha temple and then take a short walk through the typical streets of Cusco visiting the Cathedral in the main square. From this point our car will take us to the megalithic site of Sacsayhuaman then Qenko, Puka Pukara and Tambomachay. Finishing back at your hotel. You have the evening free.


OPTIONALLY: We can offer you a private tour:

We will walk to the Cathedral in the Plaza de Armas, and then on to Qoricancha the Inca Sun Temple. Then we will visit the vibrant San Pedro Market where the locals shop for Andean grains, fruits, natural medicine plants and more. Afterwards, drive up above Cusco for a visit of the spectacular Sacsayhuaman complex with stupendous stonework, Qenko a place of rituals and the Temple of the Moon; a mysterious site with two caves which contain alters and carvings of serpents and more. We will continue to the house of Sulka to see the lovely textiles made by hand. After a glorious time we will return to the city to enjoy a delicious gourmet lunch. Overnight in Cusco

This morning we start our day excursion to the Sacred Valley Of the Incas. We visit the colorful indigenous and handicraft market of Pisac and the ruins high up on the mountain overlooking the valley. At Pisac we can enjoy a small typical Andean market and it offers good opportunities to buy local handicraft. We continue to Urubamba where a buffet lunch is served and after lunch we continue to Ollantaytambo. The town has been built on top of original Inca foundations and is the best surviving example of Inca town planning. The town is located at the bottom of spectacular Inca ruins, which protected the strategic entrance to the lower Urubamba Valley. At the end of our tour we check-in to our hotel in the Sacred Valley.

Morning transfer to the train station to board the train for the scenic journey to Aguas Calientes. On arrival to Aguas Calientes the hotel staff will be waiting for you to take you to your hotel.  Your guide will meet you at your hotel and after dropping off your luggage you will take the bus up to Machu Picchu Sanctuary where you will enjoy a three hour guided tour of the sanctuary. After your tour you have free time to explore the place on your own. The rest of the day is free. 

Overnight in Machu Picchu Town

Today you have free time to return on your own to Machu Picchu Sanctuary and explore the site and hike to Huayna Picchu or Machupicchu Mountain (tickets for today are not included)also you can choose to visit the waterfalls of Mandor. 
If you have chosen the Inkaterra Machu Picchu Pueblo hotel you can opt to do one of the various included excursions on the hotel grounds. You can take bird-watching, orchid and nature hikes with specialist guides. 
Please make sure you check out of you hotel before you leave for the Sanctuary and that you pick up your luggage to be at the train station half an hour before your train’s departure. Please disembark the train in Poroy or Ollantaytambo station were our representative awaits to transfer you to your hotel in Cusco.

Overnight in Cusco

Transfer to the bus station for your tourist bus to Puno in which you will visit 4 archeological sites along the way.  This will be a very active and interesting 9 hours journey.

This day long bus ride takes you through snow-covered peaks, high and wide Andean valleys where llamas graze on spiky grass. As you pass by villages with cobblestone streets and you will see people making adobe bricks by hand.

On our way to Puno we will visit the litho-sculptures of Pukara, La Raya, the highest point between Cusco and Puno (14234 feet / 3800 meters), Raqchi, the temple of the God Wiracocha and Andahuaylillas. The church of Andahuaylillas is known as the «Sistine Chapel of America». It is known as one of the best- preserved examples of Andean religious art. Arrival in Cusco and transfer to hotel.

Alternative option: Upgrade to Lake Titicaca train to Cusco available at an additional cost. Train operates Puno to Cusco: Monday, Thursday and Saturday.

Travel in style on the Lake Titicaca train to Cusco. Morning transfer to the local train station of Puno where the train operated by Peru Rail is waiting for your spectacular rail journey to Cusco, which runs on the shores of Lake Titicaca. The glass-walled observation coach provides the perfect opportunity to enjoy the beautiful scenery. The journey is broken by a scenic stop at La Raya, which is also the highest point on the route.
 First class lunch is served aboard the train in style.
 A music and fashion show and a bar-tending lesson will also be part of your experience aboard.

Overnight in Cusco

Today we will leave for the port where a boat awaits you to visit one of the highest navigable lakes in the world (3800 meters / 12467.19 feet). We will explore the floating island of the Uros where you will see their typically dressed inhabitants. We continue the tour for the island of Taquile where the local people are experts in traditional weaving techniques. Return to Puno transfer to your hotel.

Overnight in Puno

Morning transfer to Juliaca airport for your flight to Lima. On arrival in Lima leave luggage in airport storage, then you will be transferred to the drop off pick up point in Miraflores in front of the Marriott Hotel. You have free time for lunch and at 1.45 pm you will be picked up from the drop off/ pick up point in front of Marriott hotel for your guided Lima city tour in group service. After the tour you will be dropped back to Marriott Hotel and you have free time until your evening scheduled transfer returning to the airport for your international flight.
