Our meeting point will be the Plaza de Armas in Urubamba. We will begin with a walking tour of San Pedro Apóstol Church, followed by a visit to the local market, where you can explore a diverse range of products, including fresh fruits, vegetables, tubers, dairy products, coffee, cacao, handmade bread, traditional foods, and much more.
Next, we’ll visit the Qerokancha Archaeological Site, an essential storage facility for agricultural products during Inca times. Afterward, our transport will take us to the Palace of the Inca Wayna Qhapaq, the Monastery of Recoleta, and the Inca Palace of the Sayri Túpac in Yucay.
From there, we will continue our journey to Maras and Moray, two stunning examples of Inca hydraulic and agricultural engineering. The salt pans of Maras present a breathtaking spectacle, with hundreds of natural salt wells fed by an underground spring. In addition to the stunning views, you can find various products made from this valuable salt, including bath salts, flavored salts for cooking, smoked salt for BBQs, and other artisanal products.
We will then explore the Moray Archaeological Complex, featuring impressive circular agricultural terraces that were excavated to create distinct microclimates for agricultural experimentation. After our exploration, we will return to Urubamba, concluding this unforgettable cultural experience.
